Legislation
The Section Council reviewed 4 bills that may affect their members’ practice area. Highlights of the most recent legislative session include:
- Senate Bill 1491 amends the Business Corporation Act of 1983 to provide that a corporation that has contracts with the State shall include as part of its annual report a list of its professional services suppliers by category. That list shall include the percentage of owners and employees in each category that are women or are members of a minority group.
- Senate Bill 1501 amends the General Not For Profit Corporation Act of 1986 that provides that in its annual report filed with the Secretary of State, a domestic or foreign corporation shall include the aggregated demographic information of its directors and officers, including race, ethnicity, gender, disability status, veteran status, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
