Continuing Legal Education

ISBA Central Discussions

ISBA Central communities allows section members to pose questions, answer questions, and share information with fellow section members. Members of the section get free access to the section’s community. Joining any section also grants you access to the Transactional and Litigation communities. Legislation

The Section Council reviewed 51 bills that may affect their members’ practice area. Highlights of the most recent legislative session include:

  • House Bill 2788 amends the Environmental Protection Act. Allows the EPA and the person complained against to agree to an extended time period to (i) submit a written response to the alleged violations and (ii) hold a requested meeting without a representative of the Office of the Attorney General or the State's Attorney of the county in which the alleged violation occurred. 
  • House Bill 2301 modifies the definition of “low-level radioactive waste” or “waste” to expand the referenced definition of byproduct material. 
  • House Bill 3095 amends the Environmental Protection Act. Categorically excludes limestone residuals generated from the treatment of drinking water at a publicly owned drinking water treatment plant from regulation as a waste under the Act when used for specific beneficial purposes.
