Continuing Legal Education

Section members receive discounts on section-sponsored CLE programs. During the 2022–23 bar year, the Section sponsored the following programs:

ISBA Central Discussions

ISBA Central communities allows section members to pose questions, answer questions, and share information with fellow section members. Members of the section get free access to the section’s community. Joining any section also grants you access to the Transactional and Litigation communities. Below are the total number of discussion posts during the 2022–23 bar year.

Legislation

The Section Council reviewed 32 bills that may affect their members’ practice area. Highlights of the most recent legislative session include:

  • House Bill 155 amends the guardian ad litem statute in the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act to clarify and resolve issues with the duties of guardian ad litem.
  • House Bill 1252 prohibits marriage until a person has reached the age of 18.
  • House Bill 2477 creates the Pregnancy Expenses Act. Provides that the other party to a pregnancy or the other intended parent has a duty to pay 50% of the pregnant person's pregnancy expenses. Allows an action seeking the payment of pregnancy expenses to be brought during or after the pregnancy.
