Campaign Season for ISBA Election Underway

Campaign season for the 2021 Illinois State Bar Association election began October 1, for open leadership seats of third vice president (outside Cook County) and one seat each for the following Board of Governors seats: Area 1 (Circuit 18), Area 6 (Circuits 7, 8, and 9), and Area 8 (Circuits 3 and 20). There is also one Board of Governors seat in Cook County. There are 26 open seats for Cook County Assembly.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, candidates seeking ISBA elective office will not be able to collect and submit nominating petitions as they have done pre-pandemic. For this election, the nominating process will be entirely electronic via the ISBA’s website. Candidates must generate a nomination petition on the ISBA website using the form provided, and members will need to “sign” the petitions online.

Starting on or about November 2, ISBA members will be able to view and “sign” (via electronic assent on the ISBA website) all available nominating petitions for whom they are eligible to sign.

The 2021 Election will be conducted by electronic voting. Paper ballots will be utilized in some instances. Full details on the voting process will be provided to the full active membership well in advance of the formal election.

The 2021 ISBA Notice of Election is now available. For more information, including policies, procedures, and candidate packets, visit the ISBA Elections page.
