Timothy Christian High School in Elmhurst came in second place, and tying for third were Glenbard East High School in Lombard and Hinsdale Central High School in Hinsdale. Teams from 47 Illinois high schools traveled to Springfield to participate in the program. Chatham Glenwood High School will represent the state of Illinois at the National High School Mock Trial Championship which will be held in Phoenix, Arizona, May 5-7, 2011. “The mock trial program is a rare opportunity for Illinois high school students to compete in a high-level academic endeavor,” says Pablo A. Eves of Bloomington, chair of the ISBA’s Standing Committee on Law-Related Education for the Public, which conducts the program.

Illinois will be represented at the National High School Mock Trial Championship tourney in Philadelphia by the mock trial team from Hinsdale Central High School. Hinsdale Central finished in first place in the Illinois State Bar Association High School Mock Trial Invitational, conducted March 12-13 at the University of Illinois at Springfield. Other teams in the final four were Evanston Township HS (2nd place), York HS, Elmhurst (3rd place), and Timothy Christian HS, Elmhurst (4th place). This year's trial scenario was based on the Seven Reasons to Leave the Party program of the Illinois Judges Association, which teaches students about the legal and personal consequences of drinking and driving, taking drugs and having sex. The Illinois program was co-sponsored this year by the Illinois Judges Association and the Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago. Antonio M. Romanucci, a partner in the Chicago injury firm of Romanucci & Blandin, LLC, congratulated students from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, the winning team in the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Regional Mock Trial Championship held Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 27 and 28) at the Daley Center in Chicago. The Loyola students included Jaclyn Polsinelli, Kathleen Sullivan and Amber Battin. Cook County Judge Jamie Shapiro served as a judge of the case. The winning team will compete in the finals in New Orleans March 18-21. Romanucci & Blandin served as regional coordinator of the event for 10 years.
