    2025 High School Mock Trial Invitational

    The 42nd Annual Illinois State Bar Association High School Mock Trial Invitational took place on March 15-16, 2025, at the A. Lincoln Commons at Lincoln Land Community College’s Main Campus, 2465 Poorman Drive, Springfield. Fifty high schools throughout Illinois participated. 

    First place went to College Preparatory School of America from Lombard, who also received the Donna E. Schechter Memorial Law Test Award. 

    Second place went to Timothy Christian High School from Elmhurst, and Normal West High School received third place.

    2024 High School Mock Trial Invitational

    The 41st Annual Illinois State Bar Association High School Mock Trial Invitational took place on March 16-17, 2024, at the Public Affairs Center at the University of Illinois in Springfield. Fifty high schools throughout Illinois participated. 

    First place went to College Preparatory School of America from Lombard. 

    Second place went to Stevenson High School from Lincolnshire, and Maine South High School from Park Ridge received third place. 

    The Civility Award recipient was Niles West High School from Skokie.        

    The Donna E. Schechter Memorial Law Test Award recipient was York Community High School from Elmhurst.

    2021 High School Mock Trial Invitational
    The Evanston Township High School mock trial team

    The 2021 ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational was held March 12-14. For the first time in its history, the event was held virtually.  

    Teams representing 46 high schools from across Illinois participated in trials via Zoom. The winning team was Evanston Township High School, which will represent Illinois at the National High School Mock Trial Competition in Evansville, Indiana, which will also be held virtually this year.

    ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational to Be Held Virtually in 2021

    The 2021 ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational will be held virtually due to concerns about the safety of large in-person gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The event will take place from March 12-14, 2021, via Zoom.

    Save the Date for the ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational

    Mark your calendars for the ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational, March 14-15, 2020, at the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign-Urbana!

    Help us make the 2020 invitational a success by participating! All lawyers, judges, law students, and paralegals are invited to volunteer as judges and jurors for the 2020 invitational, which provides an opportunity for students to learn what it is like to prepare and present a legal case before the Illinois courts. 

    Volunteer registration information will be distributed in January 2020. No trial experience is necessary.

    The York Community High School mock trial team. 

    The 2019 ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational took place on March 9-10 at the University of Illinois Springfield. First place went to York Community High School from Elmhurst.

    Second place went to Glenbard East High School from Lombard, and Evanston Township High School received third place.

    2018 High School Mock Trial Invitational

    The 2018 ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational, which is co-administered by the ISBA and the Illinois Trial Team of the University of Illinois, took place on March 24-25 at the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign. First place went to the St. Charles North Mock Trial Team from St. Charles North High School. They will be competing at the National High School Mock Trials in Reno, Nevada in May.

    Volunteer for the 2018 High School Mock Trial Invitational

    The 2018 ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational, which is co-administered by the ISBA and the Illinois Trial Team of the University of Illinois, will be held March 24-25 at the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign, Illinois.

    This program provides an opportunity for students to learn what it is like to prepare and present a legal case before the Illinois Courts. Participating students gain a better understanding of the justice system and improve their knowledge, skills, and ability to articulate in a reasoned, thoughtful manner.

    We welcome new volunteers and send a huge thank you to those who have donated their time in the past! The Mock Trial Invitational would not happen without volunteers like you, who have made this program a success for over 30 years.

    If you are interested in volunteering, fill out the online volunteer form by March 9. Additional mock trial information and resources are available on the ISBA website.

    St. Charles North High School wins ISBA mock trial competition

    St. Charles North High School won the 35th annual ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational, which was held at the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign March 11 and 12. Timothy Christian High School of Elmhurst came in second and Hinsdale Central High School placed third. Pictured here are, left to right, ISBA Board of Governors members Angelica W. Wawrzynek of Mattoon and Hon. Carey C. Gill of Marion, along with Stephen Iden of Springfield, vice-chair of the Law Related Education for the Public Committee. They served as judges and jurors for the competition.
