    Midwest Real Estate News Lists Freeborn Among Top Law Firms for 2018

    Freeborn & Peters LLP has been named among the top regional law firms for real estate in 2018 by Midwest Real Estate News.

    Included in the list for eight consecutive years, Freeborn this year is ranked in the top 20 among the 42 law firms recognized for their real estate practices.     Sandor Korein 1932-2018

    Sandor "Sandy" Korein, 86, died Sept. 9, 2018. Sandy was born May 5, 1932, in Zalaszengrote, Hungary, to parents, Ferenc and Katalyn Korein.

    He grew up in East St. Louis and attended East St. Louis Sr. High School, Washington University, and Washington University, School of Law.

    Daniel G. Wills, 59, of Chicago, has died. He was born March 3, 1959.

    Loving father to Katie; former husband to Emily Wills; loved son to Sandra (the late Joseph) DeAndrea and the late Ralph; beloved brother to David (Nancy) and Todd (Teresa); dear uncle to Nicole (Chris) Berens, Amanda (Jake) Mohundro, Tommy, Michael, Nicholas and Tyler Wills; fond great-uncle to Emma Berens, Taylor Berens and Vincent Wills.

    Herbert J. Theisen, 78, of Lincolnwood, has died. 

    He was an attorney in private practice for over 50 years and former chairman of the Lincolnwood Zoning Board of Appeals, having served over 30 years before retirement.

    Attorneys Lidia E. Serrano and Marissa R. Hanson have renamed their firm as Serrano Hanson. 

    The firm is primarily a family law practice, while also offering services for real estate law, criminal defense cases, and estate planning.

    Wheaton Attorney Dennise L. McCann joined the firm in 1994 and became the managing attorney of the Wheaton office in 2007. She focuses her practice on complex family matters including divorce, adoptions, paternity, prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements, the allocation of parental responsibilities, and child support. She also has substantial experience in estate planning, bankruptcy, and probate matters. She earned her juris doctorate from The John Marshall Law School in 1988. She is a court-approved guardian ad litem and mediator in DuPage County.

    Edwin Lee Wade 1932-2018

    Edwin Lee Wade, 86, died Friday, Aug. 17. He was born Jan. 26, 1932.

    Edwin attended Columbia University and received his master's degree in international law from the University of Chicago. He was subsequently appointed vice consul in the State Department, where he met his wife, Nancy (Sells) Wade, also a vice consul. Under State Department rules at the time, Mrs. Wade was compelled to resign her position, whereupon Mr. Wade took a position in the private sector with Chrysler in Geneva, Switzerland. He returned to the U.S. in 1961 and worked as an intelligence analyst for the CIA from 1961 until 1965. After continuing legal studies at night, he received his law degree from Georgetown University, whereupon Edwin moved to the Chicago area and built a successful career as an attorney. He retired as corporate secretary for U.S. Gypsum Corporation in 1993.

    Faegre Baker Daniels Earns Mansfield Certification Plus for Diversity in Leadership

    Faegre Baker Daniels achieved Mansfield Certification and Certification Plus status from Diversity Lab after completing the inaugural, one-year Mansfield Rule pilot. 

    The Mansfield Rule — inspired by the NFL’s Rooney Rule — aims to boost representation of diverse lawyers in law firm leadership by broadening the pool of candidates considered for these opportunities. It measures whether law firms have considered at least 30 percent women and attorneys of color for certain leadership and governance roles, partner promotions and senior lateral positions.
