Justice Joy V. Cunningham and the Illinois Supreme Court have announced the appointment of Sara McGann as a Circuit Judge in the 19th Subcircuit of Cook County. Ms. McGann is being appointed to fill the resident judgeship in the 19th Subcircuit of the Circuit Court of Cook County formerly held by the Hon. John A. Fairman, who was elected as a Circuit Judge in the 15th Subcircuit. Ms. McGann’s appointment is effective July 18, 2025, and will conclude on December 7, 2026. -

The Illinois State Bar Association’s Lawyer Finder Service provides referrals to local lawyers Mondays through Fridays. The Service makes referrals in a number of areas of law. For the month of June, 2025, the ISBA helped 1,235 people in need of legal services find lawyers.

On May 20, 2025, the ISBA Standing Committee on Women and the Law hosted "Trailblazing Through the Law: Lifting as We Climb" in Springfield, Illinois. ISBA members enjoyed this unique opportunity to connect and celebrate the Illinois Supreme Court’s historical impact on the law. Participants toured the Illinois State Capitol, the Illinois Supreme Court, and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. This special event culminated in a cocktail reception honoring the Supreme Court of Illinois at the Inn at 835, 835 S. 2nd Street, in Springfield. Trailblazing Through the Law: Lifting as We Climb was the result of three years of dedicated planning! -

The scam email, which has been reported by multiple members, is designed to look like an official communication from the ISBA. It uses a deceptive email address — emily.masalski2@ isba.org.virrumail.com — that is not affiliated with the ISBA. -
