The Illinois Judicial Ethics Committee (IJEC), a joint committee of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Illinois Judges Association, has released answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) as a resource for judges and attorneys seeking election or retention to judicial positions in Illinois.

Aurora Police Officer to Receive Law Enforcement Award from Illinois State Bar Association

Aurora Police Officer Douglas Rashkow will receive the Illinois State Bar Association’s (ISBA) Law Enforcement Award on Tuesday, July 23 during an Aurora City Council meeting.

The ISBA Law Enforcement Award was created to recognize sworn law enforcement officers for conduct that promotes justice and to distinguish those individuals whose service to the public brings honor and respect to the entire criminal justice system. It recognizes those who excel in law enforcement.

David Sosin to be Installed as 143rd President of the Illinois State Bar Association

David B. Sosin, a founding member and partner of the law firm Sosin, Arnold & Schoenbeck in Orland Park, will be installed as president of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) at the organization’s 143rd Annual Meeting on Friday, June 14 at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

Associate circuit judges in Illinois outside Cook County have been evaluated in a poll of lawyers conducted by the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).

Illinois State Bar Association to Host High School Mock Trial Invitational at University of Illinois Springfield

Teams from 36 high schools throughout the state will participate in the 37th annual Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) High School Mock Trial Invitational March 9-10 at the University of Illinois Springfield.

The top eight teams will compete in the final round on March 10 for the state championship. The winner will represent Illinois at the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Athens, Georgia.

ISBA to Host Animal Law Conference at Southern Illinois University School of Law

Developments in veterinary forensics, the emerging data-driven practice of strategical animal field services, and other cutting-edge animal law updates will be among topics presented during the Illinois State Bar Association’s (ISBA) Illinois Animal Law Conference at Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Law in Carbondale from noon until 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14 and from 8:15 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15.

The event, which is presented by the ISBA’s Animal Law Section, will be held at the Lesar Law Building and is open to the public.
