The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC) announced today that the Putnam, Marshall, Stark County Probation District was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Foundation for Rural Services-Community Service Grants Program. The Foundation for Rural Services (FRS) is a nonprofit organization that works with the NTCA Rural Broadband Association to sustain and enhance the quality of life in rural America.

Chief Justice Mary Jane Theis and the Illinois Supreme Court have announced that D’Anthony (Tony) Thedford has been appointed as an At-Large Judge for the Circuit Court of Cook County.
Mr. Thedford is being appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Paul Karkula. Mr. Tedford’s appointment is effective December 2, 2024, and will continue through Dec. 7, 2026.

Chief Justice Mary Jane Theis and the Illinois Supreme Court have announced that Michael Zink has been appointed as a judge in the 20th Subcircuit of Cook County.
Mr. Zink is being appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge David Haracz. Mr. Zink’s appointment is effective December 2, 2024, and will continue through Dec. 7, 2026.
“Mr. Zink’s extensive legal and volunteer experience have prepared him well for this next step,” Chief Justice Theis said. “I expect him to serve the people of Cook County well as a circuit judge.”

The bar admission ceremonies for the 1,604 new attorneys who passed the July 2024 Bar Exam will be held on Wednesday, November 6, in all five judicial districts of Illinois.
The First Judicial District ceremony sessions will be held in Chicago at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with Supreme Court Chief Justice Mary Jane Theis, Justice P. Scott Neville, Jr. and Justice Joy V. Cunningham swearing-in candidates.
The Second Judicial District ceremony will be held in Elgin at 10 a.m. with Justice Elizabeth M. Rochford swearing-in candidates.
