The Illinois State Bar Association's judicial ratings by county for the Nov. 6 election are available online.
In Cook County, an ISBA Judicial Evaluations committee used the results of a questionnaire, background investigations, and in-person interviews to rate candidates for all judicial offices. Candidates for the Appellate Court outside of Cook County were also evaluated using this method.

The 2018 Joint Meeting/Midyear Meeting will be held Dec. 6 – 8 at the Palmer House Hilton, 17 E. Monroe St. in Chicago. It will conclude with a meeting of the ISBA Assembly on Saturday, Dec. 8.
In line with ISBA President James McCluskey's presidential theme of health and wellness, the ISBA will host a special CLE seminar on the subject and offer physical fitness activities throughout the duration of the meeting, including spin and cross-fit classes, meditation, and Pilates sessions.

Chicago Police Commander Thomas Lemmer received a Law Enforcement Award from the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) on September 28 at the Chicago Police Department Headquarters. ISBA President James McCluskey presented the award.
The Law Enforcement Award recognizes sworn law enforcement officers for conduct that promotes justice and to distinguish those individuals whose service to the public brings honor and respect to the entire criminal justice system.
Campaign season for the 2019 Illinois State Bar Association election begins today, October 1, for open leadership seats of third vice president and one seat each for the following Board of Governors seats: Area 2 (Circuits 17, 19 and 22), Area 4 (Circuits 10, 14 and 15), Area 5 (Circuits 5, 6 and 11), Area 7 (Circuits 1, 2 and 4), Under Age 37 – Cook County, and Under Age 37 Outside Cook County (Circuits 1-23). Sonni Choi Williams, a former member of the ISBA Board of Governors, was sworn in as a member of the Korean American Bar Association of Chicago’s Board on Sept. 21.
A high-quality reproduction of a famous Abraham Lincoln photograph was presented during a ceremony Friday, August 24, 2018, at the Franklin County Courthouse.
The photograph was taken in Springfield by well-known photographer Alexander Hesler on June 3, 1860, for Lincoln’s 1860 presidential campaign. Printed on canvas, the image of the beardless Lincoln is encased in a richly stained wood frame and measures 30-inches wide by 40-inches tall.
