    30 Female Blackstones program and reception
    ISBA President Paula H. Holderman and 7th Circuit Bar Association President Julie Bauer hosted an event honoring the 30 Female Blackstones on Aug. 22 at Winston & Strawn LLP's headquarters in Chicago. The 30 Female Blackstones were a group of women lawyers who met at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago to fight for women's suffrage and advancement in previously male professions.

    Law and Leadership Institute 2013 Visit to Chicago City Hall
    The ISBA/JTBF Law and Leadership Institute visited Chicago's City Hall on Thursday, Aug. 8. The students heard from ISBA President Paula H. Holderman, ISBA Diversity Leadership Co-Chair Andy Fox and Chicago Alderman Ed Burke. Ald. Burke gave the students a history lesson on the City Council and took questions on his career in politics and the law.

    Law and Leadership Institute 2013 Women in the Law/Men in the Law Panels
    The ISBA/JTBF Law & Leadership Institute is in its second week at John Marshall Law School. On Monday, the 75 students divided up by gender to hear about proper gender etiquette in the workplace from Women in the Law and Men in the Law panels. The Law and Leadership Institute continues through Aug. 9.

    The Illinois Bar Foundation hosted a reception honoring outgoing ISBA President John E. Thies on Thursday, July 18, at the Union League Club in Chicago.

    Law and Leadership Institute 2013 Carbondale program visits St. Louis law firms
    The Carbondale portion of the Law and Leadership Institute visited the St. Louis law firms Sandberg Phoenix and Husch Blackwell on Wednesday, June 26. ISBA President Paula H. Holderman and LLI Carbondale Chair Alice Noble-Allgire were on hand to assist with the students' activities.

    ISBA Mutual helped sponsor the Opening Reception to kick off the 137th Annual Meeting at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa. A ceremony was held to honor ISBA Director of Bar Services Janet Sosin, who is retiring after 31 years of service to the association.

    U.S. Supreme Court Admission Ceremony 2013
    The ISBA takes a group of member and their families to be sworn-in before the U.S. Supreme Court every two years. This year, 48 ISBA members were sworn-in on June 3. The group was able to hear two decisions come down, including the landmark DNA case Maryland v. King and Justice Scalia's scathing dissent.
