Illinois Supreme Court Justice David K. Overstreet presented Past President John E. Thies (2012-13) with a Certificate of Recognition during the first day of the NextGen Symposium 2025 after introducing the John E. Thies Excellence in Legal Education Award.

During Member Appreciation Month this past May, we asked members of the ISBA to submit a photo along with a 100-word caption describing a prized possession or memento on their desk, bookshelf, or hanging on a wall. The winner received a $100 Visa gift card and the opportunity to be published in the August issue of the Illinois Bar Journal.
Responses ranged from sentimental family heirlooms, to everyday necessities, to one-of-a-kind oddities.

The ISBA Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section hosted the 23rd annual Environmental and Natural Resources Law Conference on May 22-23, 2025, at the IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, 565 W Adams Street, Chicago. The conference featured annual updates on agency activities and priorities in Illinois and the Region presented by top representatives from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. Attendees learned about the latest hot topic issues in environmental law from leading practitioners.

On May 20, 2025, the ISBA Standing Committee on Women and the Law hosted "Trailblazing Through the Law: Lifting as We Climb" in Springfield, Illinois. ISBA members enjoyed this unique opportunity to connect and celebrate the Illinois Supreme Court’s historical impact on the law. Participants toured the Illinois State Capitol, the Illinois Supreme Court, and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. This special event culminated in a cocktail reception honoring the Supreme Court of Illinois at the Inn at 835, 835 S. 2nd Street, in Springfield. Trailblazing Through the Law: Lifting as We Climb was the result of three years of dedicated planning!
