Sonni Choi Williams was installed as president of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the Illinois Suprme Court building, 200 E. Capitol Avenue, in Springfield. President Williams is the 148th president of the ISBA and is making history as the sixth woman, first woman of color, and first Korean American to lead the Association.

On May 8, 2024, 13 new lawyers were admitted to practice in the Second District of Illinois. The ceremony was held at the Hemmen’s Memorial Building Auditorium, 150 Dexter Court, in Elgin. Illinois Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth M. Rochford presided over the ceremony. Illinois State Bar Association Treasurer Sarah Toney spoke at the ceremony.

Nineteen new lawyers were admitted into practice on May 8, 2024, for the Fifth District of Illinois. The ceremony was held at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts Mitchell Museum, 2600 Richview Rd, in Mt. Vernon. Illinois Supreme Court Justice David K. Overstreet presided over the ceremony. Illinois State Bar Association Secretary Wesley Gozia spoke at the ceremony.
