In Illinois, the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Confidentiality Act is a bulwark against improper disclosures of mental health information. At the time of its enactment, the Act was a “comprehensive revision” of prior safeguards for mental health records. One thousand six hundred four new attorneys were admitted to practice in Illinois on November 6, 2024, in all five judicial districts of Illinois. The Fourth Judicial District ceremonies were held at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Illinois Supreme Court Building, 200 E Capitol Ave, in Springfield with Justice Lisa Holder White swearing-in candidates. Illinois State Bar Association Board of Governors' Members Nargis Khokhar and Mark Palmer were speakers for the Fourth Judicial District ceremonies. 

Chief Justice Mary Jane Theis and the Illinois Supreme Court have announced that Michael Zink has been appointed as a judge in the 20th Subcircuit of Cook County.  Mr. Zink is being appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge David Haracz. Mr. Zink’s appointment is effective December 2, 2024, and will continue through Dec. 7, 2026.  “Mr. Zink’s extensive legal and volunteer experience have prepared him well for this next step,” Chief Justice Theis said. “I expect him to serve the people of Cook County well as a circuit judge.”
