The deadline to submit nominating petitions for the ISBA election is Friday, Jan. 31, at 4:30 p.m. at either the Illinois Bar Center, 424 S. 2nd St., Springfield, or the Chicago Regional Office at 20 S. Clark St., Suite 900, Chicago.
Members of the ISBA will elect a third vice president, two Board of Governors seats in Cook County, and 21 seats for Cook County Assembly.
One board seat is open in each of the following Areas: Area 3 (Circuits 12, 13, 16, 21, and 23), Area 4 (Circuits 10, 14 and 15), Under Age 37 – Cook County, and Under Age 37 Outside Cook County (Circuits 1-23).

Volunteers are needed for the 2020 ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational, which will be held March 14-15 at the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign-Urbana.
This program provides an opportunity for students to learn what it is like to prepare and present a legal case before the Illinois courts. Participating students gain a better understanding of the justice system and improve their knowledge, skills, and ability to articulate in a reasoned, thoughtful manner.

Every year, the Illinois State Bar Association presents awards to recognize individuals for their commitment and service to the profession, their communities, and the association. Award recipients are selected through a nomination process, and members are encouraged to nominate persons who meet the criteria for each award. The ISBA has announced the class members of its 2020 Leadership Academy.
This landmark program is designed to train the next generation of professionals to become effective leaders in the Illinois legal community. ISBA members with three to 10 years of legal practice experience are eligible to participate. After completing the academy, each member will be appointed to a section council or committee of their choice.

Every few years, the Illinois State Bar Association organizes an admission ceremony at the U.S. Supreme Court. This year's ceremony will take place June 14-15, 2020, in Washington, D.C.
Only 50 spots will be available. A special group hotel room rate will be available at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel for admittees, their families, and guests.
To be eligible, you must be an active lawyer member of the ISBA, admitted to practice more than 3 years, and not have any adverse disciplinary action pronounced or in effect during that 3-year period.

The ISBA Springfield and Chicago offices will be closed for the holidays from Tuesday, Dec. 24 to Wednesday, Jan. 1. During this time, members can expect the following:
