    Leynee A. Cruz

    Chuhak & Tecson, P.C., announced the addition of Leynee A. Cruz, an experienced probate and guardianship administration and litigation attorney, as an associate.

    Cruz’s practice includes representing individual guardians and financial institutions in adult and minor guardianships. She also represents clients in trust and estate administration matters.

    She is often appointed as Guardian Ad Litem by Cook County Probate Division judges to assist them in adult and minor guardianship matters. A native Spanish speaker licensed in Florida and Illinois, Cruz has worked alongside attorneys in Havana, Cuba, representing Cuban national beneficiaries and is currently the president-elect of the Hispanic Lawyer’s Association of Illinois.

    Thomas A. Tyler Jr. 1950-2018

    Thomas Arden Tyler Jr., 67, died Monday, July 23, 2018. He was born Oct. 3, 1950.

    He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Jacqueline (DiVecchio) Tyler; his two beloved sons, Zachary Thomas Tyler and Jacob Grant Tyler; his sisters-­in-­law, Janet DiVecchio and Judith (James) Ramsay; niece and nephews, Jamie (Ric Horejs) Ramsay, Jason (Julie) Ramsay, and David Frogge; and his faithful four­legged dachshunds, Loki, Kaiser and Heidi; and his cat, Moo­Moo.

    He is also survived by one uncle, Richard (Dorothy) Tyler; and numerous cousins.

    Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard Moves to New Chicago Office Location

    Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, P.C. announced today the firm has moved Chicago office locations from 22 West Washington Street, Suite 1600, to a new headquarters located a few blocks away at 161 North Clark Street, Suite 4700.  

    The move more than doubles the firm’s previous office footprint of 8,800 square feet to more than 18,000 square feet.

    ISBA Presidential Commendations Awarded to Three Attorneys

    Catherine Brukalo and Sharon L. Eiseman have received Presidential Commendations from the Illinois State Bar Association.

    ISBA Immediate Past President Hon. Russell W. Hartigan (ret.) presented the awards July 24 in Chicago. 

    A third recipient, Jessica M. Fangman, will receive her Presidential Commendation at a later date.

    ISBA Wins Summary Judgment in Lawsuit against IDFPR

    The Cook County Circuit Court on June 20 issued an order finding that the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) cannot prosecute Illinois property tax attorneys on charges they offered appraisal services without a proper state license when they argue valuations before tax assessment appeal tribunals.

    The deadline for the state to file an appeal was July 20. No appeal was filed.

    ISBA Board Vacancies Filled at Board of Governors Meeting

    The ISBA Board of Governors met on Friday, July 20. At the meeting, the Board filled the Area IV (Circuits 10, 14, and 15) and Under 37 in Cook County seats on the Board of Governors. The results of the elections to fill these leadership positions are below.

    Waukegan Attorney Albert Salvi Earns High Rating from Martindale-Hubbell

    Waukegan Attorney Albert Salvi has received a Distinguished Peer Rating for High Professional Achievement and named him a Silver-level Client Champion by the independent rating service Martindale-Hubbell.

    Attorneys are named Client Champions based on positive client reviews on the Martindale-Hubbell website. Salvi reached the Silver level by having four client reviews, each of which rated him a perfect 5.

    Wheaton attorney Wendy M. Musielak, a partner at Esp Kreuzer Cores LLP, has been elected second vice president of the DuPage County Bar Association’s Board of Directors.

    Musielak received her law degree from DePaul University College of Law. Her family law practice focuses on the allocation of parental responsibilities, child support, spousal support, collaborative law, mediation, prenuptial agreements, litigation, and high asset divorce and complex mediation.

    Illinois Bar Foundation to Honor Tyrone C. Fahner at Annual Gala

    The Illinois Bar Foundation, the fundraising arm of the Illinois State Bar Association, will hold its 20th annual black-tie Gala fundraiser on Friday, October 19, at the Four Seasons Hotel, 120 E. Delaware Place, Chicago.

    During the event, Tyrone C. Fahner, a partner at Mayer Brown, will receive the foundation’s 2018 Distinguished Award for Excellence. Fahner is a former Illinois attorney general and has served as director of the Illinois Department of Law Enforcement and as an assistant United States attorney.
